Black Female Therapist | Therapist for Women of Color
Every shade of you has a story
The version of you that shows up at work.
The version of you that shows up with family.
The version of you that shows up in relationships.
Each one carries clues about what you've experienced, what you've survived, and what may still need healing.
At Shades of Healing Therapy, we help women of color understand the emotional patterns showing up across their lives, trace them back to their source, and reconnect with the truest version of themselves.
The relationship you have with yourself shapes every other relationship in your life.
The way you communicate, set boundaries, trust others, ask for support, or put your own needs aside often has roots that run deeper than the present moment.
At Shades of Healing, we believe many of the patterns women struggle with today aren't character flaws or signs that something is wrong with them. They're often protective strategies developed through experiences, relationships, and wounds that have yet to be fully healed.
That's why our work goes beyond surface-level coping strategies.
We help women of color understand the patterns showing up across their relationships, heal the experiences underneath them, and reconnect with themselves in a way that creates lasting change.
Because when the relationship you have with yourself begins to heal, every other relationship has the opportunity to change too.
The stories keeping you stuck, you may have spent years believing:
Rest has to be earned.
Saying no is selfish.
Being strong means handling everything alone.
Your worth comes from what you do for other people.
Other people's comfort matters more than your own.
If you stop holding it all together, everything will fall apart.
These beliefs don't appear out of nowhere.
They're often the result of experiences that taught you who you needed to be in order to feel safe, accepted, loved, or needed.
Change begins when you realize those stories are not the same thing as who you are.
Every woman holds a true essence. A version of herself that exists beneath the pressure to perform, accommodate, overfunction, and carry more than her share.
Our work is grounded in the belief that healing isn't about fixing who you are.
It's about understanding what you've been carrying, honoring the experiences that shaped you, and creating space for your true self to emerge more fully.
Because when survival mode stops leading, the woman underneath finally has room to breathe.

Jamie Fowler, LCSW — Black Therapist specializing in Trauma, EMDR and Co-Founder of Shades of Healing
I know how easy it is to become the person everyone depends on. The one who holds it together. The one who keeps showing up. The one who carries more than her share without realizing how heavy it's become.
As a trauma therapist, I work with women of color who are ready to move beyond simply understanding their patterns and begin healing the experiences underneath them.
My approach combines trauma therapy, EMDR, and inner child work to help clients create meaningful change that reaches beyond insight and into their everyday lives.
What matters most to me is creating a space where you feel genuinely seen. A space where you don't have to explain every part of your experience before it can be understood. A space where healing feels intentional, supportive, and rooted in the belief that there is nothing wrong with you.
Together, we'll reconnect with the version of yourself that has been there all along. Because healing isn't about becoming someone new. It's about coming home to yourself.
Adriana Arizon, LCSW - Co-Founder, Trauma, Anxiety and Life Transition Therapist
I know how exhausting it can feel to carry expectations from every direction at once. To move through life trying to stay strong, care for others, and keep going even when your own needs are pushed aside.
My path into therapy began with a deep calling to be of service to others, a calling that led me to earn my Master’s in Social Work from UCLA and shape both my professional and personal life around meaningful connection and care.
As a therapist, I work with children, teenagers, young adults, women, and people of color who are navigating depression, anxiety, grief and loss, societal and systemic pressures, and difficult life transitions. I believe healing happens in relationships where you feel safe enough to learn, unlearn, and rewrite parts of your story with compassion rather than judgment.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to you. I draw from evidence-based therapies while honoring your unique experiences, strengths, culture, and goals. Together, we focus on building self-awareness, confidence, emotional resilience, and the lasting changes that help you feel more grounded in your everyday life.
What matters most to me is creating a space where you don’t have to perform strength to be worthy of support. A space where your experiences are honored, your emotions are welcomed, and your healing can unfold at your own pace. You deserve more than simply getting through the day. You deserve a wholehearted life — one that feels connected, authentic, and fully your own.
The next chapter of your life doesn't have to be defined by old patterns.
It can be defined by who you choose to embrace today.
